Effective from October 2024, all visitors carrying a drone to Socotra will require a special permit before arrival. The permit costs $100 and is payable in cash upon arrival at the airport.
Getting the permit is straightforward. Your local tour operator must file a request with the local government, and the permit will be granted on the same day. This way, you can fly your drone legally. However, you must be mindful of where you should not fly your drone, so please speak with your tour guide if you are unsure. If you are travelling to Socotra with us, please let us know, and we will arrange the permit for you without bringing cash to the island.
